Data protection
Northumbria CRC collects and processes personal information as an essential part of probation work. This can include information on staff, victims of crime, offenders, and individuals directly relevant to the management of an offender.
The company is obliged to process this information in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. The act works in two ways:
1. It gives individuals (data subjects) certain rights regarding information held about them
2. It places obligations on those who process information (data controllers)
The Data Protection Act is enforced by the Information Commissioner, an independent supervisory authority reporting directly to parliament.
How do I obtain a copy of the information Northumbria Community Rehabilitation Company holds on me?
If you would like to have a copy, please write to the data protection officer. You need to include your name, address, date of birth and the date of your last contact with Northumbria CRC. You also need to include the statutory fee of £10.

All information held by Northumbria CRC is managed in accordance with the government protective marking policy and government secure internet policy. This includes the sharing of information with partner agencies. Data sharing protocols are available on request.
